The Udyam Registration Certificate is the official document issued by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, that recognises your enterprise as a registered Micro, Small or Medium business. It carries a unique 19-digit Udyam Registration Number (URN), a dynamic QR code and your classification — Micro, Small or Medium — determined from the investment and turnover figures pulled directly from PAN-linked Government databases.
Once issued, the certificate stays with your enterprise for its entire operating life. There is no renewal cycle, no fee and no paperwork — your details are updated automatically as Income Tax and GSTIN records change. The Udyam Certificate download PDF can be obtained anytime from the official Udyam Registration portal.

Why it matters
Your Udyam Certificate is the single document a bank, a procurement officer, or a Government scheme officer will ask for. Having a printed copy on file — or the official PDF on your phone — saves hours during loan origination, tender submission and on-site vendor verification.
Most public-sector and PSU lending schemes ask for the printed Udyam Certificate as a primary KYC document.
The GeM portal and many state e-tendering systems require a URN, which your downloaded certificate carries.
CGTMSE, CLCSS, TREAD and other MSME schemes release benefits only against a valid Udyam Certificate.
Auditors and tax practitioners use the printed certificate to verify the MSME classification on filings.
A dynamic QR on the certificate allows any third party to verify the enterprise against live Government records.
Use the certificate to combine central, state and bank-level MSME benefits under one identity number.
Step-by-step
The process was redesigned after 1 July 2020 to be fully paperless and based on Aadhaar and PAN self-declaration. Keep these three details ready before you start.
Visit udyamregistration.gov.in in any modern browser. The portal is officially mobile-friendly.
This option is available on the homepage and opens the certificate retrieval page.
Type the 12-digit Aadhaar of the entrepreneur and the 10-digit mobile number linked to it.
The portal verifies the mobile against the Aadhaar seeded record and dispatches a 6-digit OTP.
Enter the OTP exactly as received. The certificate retrieval page opens with your enterprise summary.
Click the download button to save the official PDF. Use any browser print option for a physical copy.
You will be redirected to the official Government of India Udyam Registration Portal.
Three recovery paths
The official Udyam portal offers separate URLs to download the certificate depending on whether you have your Udyam number, only your registered mobile, or want to look up an enterprise by PAN. Below is what each path does in plain English.
Best when you have lost the Udyam Number but still control the registered mobile. The portal sends a one-time password to your Aadhaar-linked phone. After validation, it displays your full certificate for download.
You will be redirected to the official Government of India Udyam Registration Portal.
The fastest path if you already know your 19-digit Udyam Registration Number. The retrieval page shows the certificate preview directly, and the PDF download takes only one click.

If you only remember the enterprise PAN, the portal's search-by-PAN utility retrieves the matching URN. After locating the number you can immediately proceed to certificate download.

Verify in seconds
The official portal hosts a public verification page that allows any third party — a banker, a vendor, a tender officer — to confirm the authenticity of a Udyam certificate in real time. Verification is done by entering the 19-digit URN or scanning the dynamic QR code printed on the certificate.

Before you click submit
Most failures on the Udyam portal come down to one of five issues. Cross-check these before you re-attempt the download.
Confirm the mobile you typed is the one currently linked to your Aadhaar. The Government database is authoritative — if your mobile changed, update it in the Aadhaar centre first.
URNs follow the strict format UDYAM-XX-00-0000000. Recheck the state code, district code and the trailing digits — a single typo leads to a “no record found” result.
Usually means the PAN linked to the certificate is different from the one on file. Use the “Search by PAN” utility to identify the correct Udyam Number.
Try a different browser, disable aggressive popup blockers, or use the official portal from a desktop. The certificate is a generated PDF and works in every modern reader.
Pre-2020 Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) and EM-II registrations are no longer valid. Migrate by completing a fresh Udyam Registration on the official portal at no cost.
Only one Udyam can exist per PAN. If you see duplicates, contact the official helpdesk — keeping both active records is not permitted under MSME rules.
Effective 1 April 2025
The composite criteria of investment and turnover continue to be used. From 1 April 2025, the revised turnover thresholds apply across Micro, Small and Medium enterprises.
Investment up to ₹2.5 crore and turnover up to ₹10 crore.
Investment up to ₹25 crore and turnover up to ₹100 crore.
Investment up to ₹125 crore and turnover up to ₹500 crore.

Editorial standards
Every procedure, threshold and form field on this page is cross-checked against the official Udyam Registration portal, the Ministry of MSME notifications under the MSMED Act, 2006 and the Office of the Development Commissioner (MSME). When the Government updates rules — for example, the revised turnover thresholds effective 1 April 2025 — our editorial desk re-tests the live portal flow before publishing a revision.
