What is the Udyam Certificate?

The Udyam Registration Certificate is the official document issued by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, that recognises your enterprise as a registered Micro, Small or Medium business. It carries a unique 19-digit Udyam Registration Number (URN), a dynamic QR code and your classification — Micro, Small or Medium — determined from the investment and turnover figures pulled directly from PAN-linked Government databases.

Once issued, the certificate stays with your enterprise for its entire operating life. There is no renewal cycle, no fee and no paperwork — your details are updated automatically as Income Tax and GSTIN records change. The Udyam Certificate download PDF can be obtained anytime from the official Udyam Registration portal.

Our guides are informational. Always complete actions on the official Government portal.

Why it matters

Why download the Udyam Certificate?

Your Udyam Certificate is the single document a bank, a procurement officer, or a Government scheme officer will ask for. Having a printed copy on file — or the official PDF on your phone — saves hours during loan origination, tender submission and on-site vendor verification.

Collateral-Free Bank Loans

Most public-sector and PSU lending schemes ask for the printed Udyam Certificate as a primary KYC document.

Government Tender Eligibility

The GeM portal and many state e-tendering systems require a URN, which your downloaded certificate carries.

Priority Sector Credit & Subsidies

CGTMSE, CLCSS, TREAD and other MSME schemes release benefits only against a valid Udyam Certificate.

Tax & Compliance Records

Auditors and tax practitioners use the printed certificate to verify the MSME classification on filings.

Instant QR Verification

A dynamic QR on the certificate allows any third party to verify the enterprise against live Government records.

Layered Scheme Stacking

Use the certificate to combine central, state and bank-level MSME benefits under one identity number.

Three recovery paths

Choose the path that fits your situation

The official Udyam portal offers separate URLs to download the certificate depending on whether you have your Udyam number, only your registered mobile, or want to look up an enterprise by PAN. Below is what each path does in plain English.

PATH A

By Registered Mobile Number

Best when you have lost the Udyam Number but still control the registered mobile. The portal sends a one-time password to your Aadhaar-linked phone. After validation, it displays your full certificate for download.

  1. 1. Open the Print Udyam Certificate page on the official portal.
  2. 2. Select the option to retrieve via Mobile / Aadhaar.
  3. 3. Enter the registered mobile number and Generate OTP.
  4. 4. Submit the 6-digit OTP and click Verify.
  5. 5. Click Download Certificate to save the PDF.
Start Mobile Download

You will be redirected to the official Government of India Udyam Registration Portal.

PATH B

By Udyam Number (URN)

The fastest path if you already know your 19-digit Udyam Registration Number. The retrieval page shows the certificate preview directly, and the PDF download takes only one click.

  1. 1. Open the Print / Verify page on the official portal.
  2. 2. Choose the “Print / Download Udyam Certificate” option.
  3. 3. Type your full URN in the format UDYAM-XX-00-0000000.
  4. 4. Click on Validate and proceed.
  5. 5. Use the Download button to save the file locally.
Start URN Download

You will be redirected to the official Government of India Udyam Registration Portal.

PATH C

Udyam Search by PAN

If you only remember the enterprise PAN, the portal's search-by-PAN utility retrieves the matching URN. After locating the number you can immediately proceed to certificate download.

  1. 1. Open the “Search / Verify” page on the portal.
  2. 2. Click on the “Search by PAN” tab.
  3. 3. Enter the 10-character PAN of the enterprise.
  4. 4. Validate with the captcha and Submit.
  5. 5. From the result, use the URN to download the certificate.

Verify in seconds

Verify Udyam Certificate

The official portal hosts a public verification page that allows any third party — a banker, a vendor, a tender officer — to confirm the authenticity of a Udyam certificate in real time. Verification is done by entering the 19-digit URN or scanning the dynamic QR code printed on the certificate.

  • The search works for any enterprise across India.
  • The dynamic QR carries a live token that cannot be forged.
  • No login is required — the page is public.
  • Verifications are read-only; nothing on the certificate is mutated.

Common errors & how to fix them

Most failures on the Udyam portal come down to one of five issues. Cross-check these before you re-attempt the download.

!

“OTP not received”

Confirm the mobile you typed is the one currently linked to your Aadhaar. The Government database is authoritative — if your mobile changed, update it in the Aadhaar centre first.

!

“Invalid Udyam Number”

URNs follow the strict format UDYAM-XX-00-0000000. Recheck the state code, district code and the trailing digits — a single typo leads to a “no record found” result.

!

“Record not found”

Usually means the PAN linked to the certificate is different from the one on file. Use the “Search by PAN” utility to identify the correct Udyam Number.

!

“Certificate download failed”

Try a different browser, disable aggressive popup blockers, or use the official portal from a desktop. The certificate is a generated PDF and works in every modern reader.

!

“Old UAM / EM-II registered earlier”

Pre-2020 Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) and EM-II registrations are no longer valid. Migrate by completing a fresh Udyam Registration on the official portal at no cost.

!

“More than one Udyam Number”

Only one Udyam can exist per PAN. If you see duplicates, contact the official helpdesk — keeping both active records is not permitted under MSME rules.

Frequently asked

Udyam Certificate — Common questions

Quick answers to the questions most MSME owners ask us. If you have a scenario that isn't covered below, write to the editorial desk and we'll publish a follow-up.

Ask the editorial desk

Is there a fee for Udyam certificate download?

No. Both the registration and the certificate download are free on the official Government of India Udyam Registration portal. Avoid any third-party agency asking for payment.

Can I download the Udyam certificate without the Udyam number?

Yes. The official Udyam portal supports certificate download by registered mobile number and by Aadhaar. Use the “Forgot Udyam Number” option to first retrieve the URN, then download.

How do I download the Udyam certificate by mobile number?

Open the official Udyam portal, click Print Udyam Certificate, choose the option to retrieve by mobile, enter your 10-digit mobile number, validate via OTP, then download the PDF certificate.

What format is the Udyam certificate PDF?

The certificate is served as a digitally signed PDF that includes the 19-digit Udyam Number, classification, dynamic QR code and the date of registration.

Can I print the Udyam certificate?

Yes. After downloading the PDF, open it in any viewer and use the Print option. For a framed copy, print on premium A4 paper at 100% scale and avoid “fit to page” adjustments to preserve the QR code.

Is the Udyam certificate valid without renewal?

Udyam Registration is permanent and does not require renewal. Your classification is auto-updated as investment and turnover figures change in the linked Income Tax and GST databases.

How is the Udyam certificate verified?

Can someone help me download the Udyam certificate?

Only the Champions Control Rooms and District Industries Centres (DICs) operated by the Government are authorised to assist. No private agency is recognised; never share your Aadhaar OTP with any third party.

How we research & maintain this guide

Every procedure, threshold and form field on this page is cross-checked against the official Udyam Registration portal, the Ministry of MSME notifications under the MSMED Act, 2006 and the Office of the Development Commissioner (MSME). When the Government updates rules — for example, the revised turnover thresholds effective 1 April 2025 — our editorial desk re-tests the live portal flow before publishing a revision.

  1. 1Open the official portal, simulate the user journey and capture the real screen labels and helper text.
  2. 2Cross-reference against the MSMED Act statutory notices and Ministry circulars.
  3. 3Write the public-facing guide in plain English; add a caveat where any step may vary by jurisdiction.
  4. 4Re-verify on the first working day of every month and on rule-change events.
